Wank? In MY robot sex community? It's more likely than you think!
For those of you who don't know, I'm one of the co-mods on (lj)mecha_erotica, a Transformers fic comm that deals exclusively in non-sticky* fic. It was created in early 2005 by me and three other pervy robot fanciers from the Padded Cell, and it has always been non-sticky. We've had some amazing fics since its inception and its members now number over nine thousaaaand eight hundred. For the most part, everyone was relaxed and happy enjoying the feelthy feelthy smut, and little tyranny was required from us mods.

...To be honest, I'm amazed it took this long to bring the Controversy. XD Long story short: after a couple of weeks in which it seemed like every fic being posted was sticky, us mods were forced to crack down a bit and a post was made reminding everyone that Sticky Is Against the Rules, and clarifying a bit what we mean by that (see footnote below). A few people requested additional clarification, which, with the exception of (lj)kyra_neko_rei (I totally heart you, by the way) quickly devolved into 'but if there is no robopeen, then you might as well just have them playing cards to get off!' Actually, I would totally read that. To be fair, it's only a couple people causing the problem, but honestly? How hard is it to move the plug from the groin to, oh, the hip? Or torso? Or elbow? Hell, I wrote a fic once where Skids attached a vibrator to his forehead, so do not tell me that moving around your characters' erogenous zones is too haaaaard.

Currently, comments are locked on the post in question while us mods powwow on how to salvage all this. There will probably be a 'this is sticky, now you know, so stop doing it here!' post, along with 'there are other comms if you don't like the way this one is run.' Hopefully that will put a cap on things once and for all.

Lest anyone think I am some sort of anti-sticky Nazi: I will never not read a fic just because it is sticky. A good writer can make me enjoy, and yes, even get off on, stories that involve human-analogue robot porn. Hell, I greatly enjoy 'Toxicity' by (lj)vani_nessa and (lj)spotlight_noa, just for example. (I will never be able to write it without dissolving into helpless gigglefits, though.)

*'Sticky' in Transformers fandom referring to fics in which the giant alien robots have sex in a humanlike manner. The term itself stems from the 'gushing fluids' phenomenon, but it can refer to anything from plugs-and-outlets being in the groin area to full-on thrusting, ejaculate-spewing robowang/robovag. It does not include kissing/touching/foreplay/climax/anything else which, with even a teeny-tiny amount of creativity, does not have to have anything to do with human-style sex bits.

This shit is cutting into my (lj)springkink time, dammit. *grumpymoogle*
