Thanks for cheering me up, everyone. I'm sorry I worried you. I'm not going anywhere, I promise - if nothing else, it'd be rude to saddle my parents with my student loans. ;P Anyway, I'm okay now. Mostly. More or less. ...look, I wrote ficlets, I can't be that far gone.
Also, there's a fluffy puppy at work. It's hard to be sad with a puppy.
Kairi turned a corner and nearly ran smack into Optimus's back. "Oh! I'm sorry," she blurted, stepping back as the commander turned to her. "I wasn't looking where I was going."
"My fault," Optimus assured her with a smile. "Be careful going down this hallway, it's still wet."
"Oh." Kairi blinked and, for the first time, noticed the mop in Optimus's hands. She couldn't help it; a giggle escaped her, and she clapped her hands over her mouth as Optimus's brow creased in consernation. "I'm sorry. I just... thought you'd delegate that kind of thing."
Optimus chuckled, shaking his head. "I tried, believe me," he said, bending to his task of swabbing the decks once again. "But Rhinox is usually too busy, Dinobot thinks it's beneath his dignity, Cheetor wouldn't know what to do with a mop if it bit him, and Rattrap..." He trailed off.
"Rattrap is Rattrap," Kairi offered diplomatically.
"Yeah." Optimus shrugged. "So basically, either I do it or it doesn't get done."
"Hmm." Kairi crossed her arms and frowned down at the damp metal. "That doesn't seem fair, does it?"
Optimus glanced up, hope warring with misguided chivalry in his circuits.
Cheetor yelped and jumped forward as two blurs went past him, one black and one pink, each leaving a trail of cleanser fluid. "Bigbot?" he queried, but Optimus was already around the corner, Kairi in hot pursuit.
Shaking his head, he entered the bridge to find Rattrap manning the comm station. "Any idea what's gotten into Bigbot?" he asked.
Rattrap shrugged, not even looking up from his virtual poker. "Primate bonding."
Leonardo knew better than to try to stop the swing of that massive sword with his own katanas. He threw himself aside instead, letting the blade furrow deep into the dirt where he'd been. Cloud cursed and whipped the Buster up again, showering the area with bits of sod, but Leo had already regained his balance and dodged his next strike with a leap that took him over the blade altogether. When Cloud turned to face him, he was charging, and Cloud had to employ the Buster as a defensive weapon against the mutant's twin swords.
"No points for hitting the blade," he taunted as metal rang against metal.
"Then stop hiding behind it," Leo replied.
Cloud gritted his teeth and swung his blade in a wide arc - it wasn't a Limit, but close to it, and it sent Leo flying down the field. He landed square on his back, losing his breath but keeping his katanas, and brought them up just in time to redirect Cloud's leaping attack.
Cloud tumbled in the air and skidded, getting fresh grass stains on his pants. "Heh," he panted, using the Buster to pull himself to his feet. "You're not bad."
"Thanks." Leonardo craned his head back to grin at him. "Uh..."
Leo looked sheepish and rocked helplessly on his shell. "Help me up?"
