GIP cleverly disguised as an update on my mental state.

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I'm pretty much ready for my portfolio progress assessment on Tuesday, so I plan to get some senior project work done tomorrow and Saturday (as well as my regular class work). So, still argh, but not as argh as last night. We'll see how long it lasts.

In other news, things I found while tooling around the webbernets:

This list is hilarious. I can imagine Ratchet using some of those terms. Or some of his own. UPTWDT (UnPlugged The Wrong Damn Thing), anyone? ;D

Monkeys Control Robot Arm With Their Minds. No, really.

Dreams, memes and an announcement.

Firstly: the Internet seems convinced that today is my birthday. The Internet is mistaken. (I know, shocking. Inaccuracy? On the Intarwebs?) My actual birthday is the first of November. Plan accordingly.

Second: the consequences of falling asleep watching the History Channel. )

Third: An airplane meme. Apropos considering how often I've made plane trips. )

Love me and praise me! :D

Someone's imported the testify meme to IJ. My thread is here, because, as you all know, I am an attention whore. ^_^ So go participate, yes?

Also, Sephiroth sings about a subject that's very close to his heart.

OH MY GOD YOU GUYS

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I seriously love Gaijin Smash.

And here is why:

Personally, I want my bride-to-be to come down the aisle to the Voltron theme song. Preferably running. And then I could hire Peter Cullen to do the narration in the Optimus Prime voice - "From days of long ago, from uncharted regions of the Pacific Ocean, comes a legend. The legend of Azrael, Defender of the Gaijin. A mighty Gaijin, loved by teachers, feared by junior high school boys..." And then the minister could say "Ms. Azrael, do you vow to activate the interlocks, to always connect the dynatherms, to ensure that the infra-cells are up, and to make sure that the mega-thrusters are go for as long as you shall live?" Would that not be the most awesome wedding ever? Any woman who can't get on board with this is clearly not a woman I want to be marrying.

OMG YESPLZ. I want to get married now just so I can do THAT.

Also, as an impetus to Not Fuck Up on the graduation front, my parents have been talking about presents:

Mom: Did you have any ideas, Moogledad?
Dad: Well, I've been waffling between 'practical' and 'fun.'
Me: Why choose? :D

So, um, yes. I love my parents. ^_^

***PORN PIMPAGE START***

Springkink has been producing some first-class smut so far, and I consider it my bounden duty to wave it at you all. :D Mostly so I have an excuse to pimp my own, but.

Hazing Elena (FF7, NC-17): Gratuitous porn is what Turks do best.
Paso Doble (Transformers, PG-13): in which Starscream comes out on top for once.
Supernatural Fantasy VII: Advent Winchesters (SPN/FF7, NC-17): I've never seen Supernatural, but really all you have to know is that Reno meets his match in the 'kinky bastard' department.
GrappleandHoist (Transformers, PG): Hoist gets a clue.
A Little Spice (Aladdin/The Little Mermaid, PG-13): Oh, Disney slash, why do I love you so? Aside from the fact that I'm a kinky bitch.
As Easy As This (FF7, PG): Fluffy adorable fixit. My favorite. ^_^
Subliminal (Transformers, NC-17): Soundwave's just... testing the ultrasound. That hypnotizes people into doing his will. On Starscream. Yes. *ahem*
Banter and Blunders (Transformers, G): Pride and Prejudice, Ironhide style! :D
In the Rough (FF7, NC-17): Cid and Shera, which I already have a massive Love for, done Right. I melt.
Fruity (Fruits Basket, PG-13): It wasn't supposed to be a serious prompt, okay!?
Too Much Information (Kingdom Hearts II, G): Poor Cloud, trapped on a world with three randy teenagers. *giggles*
Like You Care (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, G): Billy is the woobiest woobie ever to woob, and Zack is made of awesome. (I think everyone named Zack is made of awesome. ...Hmm, there's a pairing. Zack/Zack! XD)

And, mine... :D
Fahrenheit (Transformers, PG): Red Alert/Firestar/Inferno. I want to have done more with this, but I lack experience writing these three. Top!Red Alert seems to have gone over well though.
Sweet Darkness (Transformers, NC-17): Prowl and Jazz are kinky bitches.
Demonstrative (FF7, NC-17): Rude and Tifa are also kinky bitches, especially when Reno gets involved.
Beautiful Attention Whore (Transformers, PG-13): Drabble, Megatron's thoughts about those times when Starscream shows off.

Off to write more porn! *whoosh of cape*

I think I'm in love.

Ironically, I'm not qualified enough for this scam to work.

I've been getting a lot of emails lately that start out much like this:

I'm currently trying to fill a job vacancy and believe the experiences you listed on your online resume may make you the candidate we're looking for. Your extensive background in business administration is ideal.

I know it's spam, but I'm tempted to reply with something along the lines of "Dude, did you even read my resume?"

([info]_kyri, I think CareerBuilder's been taken over by the spammers since you got your job.)

And since I know I'll forget all about them after class today, some links:

Portly and the Terrible, Awful, No-Good Very Bad Bank Job - Stuff like this gives me hope, as a person who will soon be entering the job market.

Phoenix's Heart - just. CUTE. *flail* (From this post, which has spoilers for Game 3.)

They figured out who the Mona Lisa was! My inner history geek squees.

Also, there's a wickedly funny Bad Hair Saga going on at [info]raphaela's journal. (Short version - the stylist destroyed her hair and won't even apologize, so now she's Making Them Suffer.) I'm pretty sure she's justified in being royally pissed off, but I'm kind of watching [info]customers_suck for one of the stylists to tell their side. Mostly 'cause it would be hilarious.

Also also: Ravyn! Seiber! I got your packages! I has a shiny Jazz and shiny books nao!

And lastly, issa Jamie Hyneman kitteh!

Vacations are never long enough.

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Tomorrow's my last day of freedom before I go back to school. ...And it occurs to me I haven't even touched my PS2 my entire vacation. God, three weeks wasted. XD

I've pretty much decided I'm not doing [info]kinkfest this round. Or [info]porn_battle, though [info]ides_of_march is still up for consideration. I just drove myself insane in September and October trying to keep up with my prompts for both [info]kinkfest and [info]springkink (granted, doing Renfest at the same time might have had an effect on that), and I really don't think I can do that again. Besides, I've got other writing I've been neglecting. *pets poor flowerverse* I'm determined to write at least 500 words a day, in whatever catches my attention from moment to moment. My parents are giving me a break on finding a job, fortunately, so it's probably a reasonable goal. (Of course, they do want me to volunteer a few hours a week. Hopefully I can find an animal shelter somewhere close. Animals > people.)

Other than that, I'm just feeling a little bummed because I'd gotten the dates wrong and won't be graduating in April like I kept telling everyone. I think it's more like late June/early July, but I'll have to check on Monday. On the one hand, more time to look for Gainful Employment. On the other, argh. ...oh god, I have to start training my body to not sleep 'til noon, don't I? Someone shoot me.

I mostly just feel like this, really.

I just got an email from someone asking if they could translate some of my TF fics into Russian.

I'm on my way to becoming a BNF, people! w00t! XD .....*flailblush*

More later, as I am so freaking tired.

Newsletters, work, books, and rice.

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
First, re: newsletter thing from yesterday. It was part guilt and part stubbornness that got me writing in the end, but I managed to bang out a short thing for my part of the newsletter. It helped, of course, that I could get away with less than four hundred words (at least seventy percent of which was pure, unrestrained snark). Whether all this is a good sign regarding my mood as of late, I leave to you to decide, dear reader.

Speaking of my stressed-out mood, Potential Boss hasn't gotten back to me yet about Teh Job, and I'm... kinda relieved. To be honest, I don't think I'll get it - the lady seemed about as stressed-out as I feel, and generally didn't sound ready to babysit me while I learned the trade. And on my end, I've been so worn out and edgy about school lately, I just don't see how I could handle a job on top of that. I almost miss my frame shop job - sure, the pay was crap, but it was better than nothing, and there wasn't much to do besides sit in the back and crochet. God, I wish I'd never even heard of Kramer Graphics. So, I guess it comes down to a choice. Which do I value more right now: monies or sanity?

Bah, enough of that depressing talk! I have been reading Books, which makes everything better. Pithy reviews behind the cuts, general spoiler warning:

White Night, by Jim Butcher )

Dark Moon Defender, by Sharon Shinn )

The Virtu, by Sarah Monette )

Last thing: FreeRice.com, a flash vocab game that donates ten grains of rice to starving communities through the UN for every word you get right. Perfect for bookish types who are a) socially conscious, and b) lazy. Though I have to wonder how much rice they'd get if they had used, say, Tetris. Ten grains per line? Good lord, the Internet would solve the world hunger problem in a heartbeat. XD

Squee!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Published science fiction author John Scalzi (haven't read him, unfortunately, but his latest effort The Android's Dream is getting pretty good reviews) mentioned in his blog a few months back that he was curious about the Creation Museum that had just opened in northern Kentucky, but he didn't want to give money to those nutjobs. So he said he'd go if his readers would donate 500 dollars in two weeks to a free speech charity (can't remember which one just now).

By the first week he'd topped $2500. I officially adore his readers. ^_^

Anyway, here's the fruits of their labor. It's wonderfully snarktastic. I just hope my professor doesn't catch me giggling my way through the Flickr album, as he's already made it clear he's a Churchy Sort. No idea where he stands on the Young Earth thing and I don't feel like finding out.

In other news, I was watching the first few episodes of MMPR yesterday (in case you hadn't got the memo that I'm a geek) and I'll probably post a more detailed List of Impressions later, but for now all I can really say is Billy/Trini OTP. *flails* I have a sinking feeling I'm going to be writing Power Ranger fic in the near future.

Also, I love this week's prompt in ffvii_100. Just so you know.
