I shorted out the stove today. Spilled a little instant-ramen broth on the controls, and zap! That was all she wrote. Lucky thing I figured out how to unplug the whole shebang, or we'd have a smoking crater for a house right now, and then who'd feed the fish? Still, we are left stove-less until Dad fixes things.

I think the next level of fail is to set something on fire. This is why I really should stay out of the kitchen. -_-

On the subject of Winterthing presents (NOOOOOOOOOOooooo....), I think I'll be giving out skibbles or something this year. I about killed myself crocheting something for everyone last year, and I'm pretty sure everyone's sick of yarnthings anyway. ;P I'd do baked goods, but, well, see above re: kitchen fail.

Trick or treat? (Om nom nom.)

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
It's the Halloween Meme, ganked from (lj)artoni! Because I won't be going trick-or-treating for realz. *sad*

01 ► Create a graphic (200 x 200 max size) to represent your personal "candy". It should have your username on it, but otherwise can feature whatever you want. Make it something special since it's self-representative.

02 ► Make a post with the subject "trick or treat?". Put your "candy" somewhere in it, and be sure to repost these instructions.

03 ► Then, go around other people's LJs and reply to them with either "trick" or "treat". If you reply with "trick", they will give you an LJ dare that you have to perform before taking their candy. If you're too wimpy for that, simply say "treat" and take their candy.

04 ► List all your collected candies in your original "trick or treat?" post to show off your collection, being sure not to direct-link! Mine is on tinypic, so feel free.

Here's my candy:

And the candy I've gotten so far:

Carved a pumpkin, all by myself. Why a fish? Well, it's less obvious than a face.

Also, I listened to the TF:TM soundtrack at work. With the volume up. Just in case there was any lingering doubt among my coworkers that I am the dweebiest dweeb that ever dweebed.

ZOMG.

So I was out walking today and saw that some of the neighbors have put up their Halloween decorations. Specifically, somebody has on their lawn a giant, animatronic Blackarachnia. I am seriously not kidding. O_O Legs! And hourglass! And the head turned to look at me, I swear. ...Actually, judging from the bloatedness, it kind of looked like a pregnant Blackarachnia, which is truly too terrifying to even contemplate.

I'll see if I can get a picture sometime this week.

I wonder if dressing up as Silverbolt for Halloween is an entirely silly idea.

Best thing about being a grownup?

I don't need adult supervision to burn sparklers in my backyard. ^_^

Happy Independence Day! :D

And later I'll have some Pop Rocks and soda, 'cause I can. ^_^

My family and I don't do Valentine's Day (it's the day my grandpa died, among other reasons), but Mom's a second-grade teacher, and what's she going to do, refuse to accept the cards and candy her adoring little sprogs or their parents shower her with? So Mom came home last night with like three gift bags full of processed sugar, and as she is a firm believer of "only eat it if it's worth the calories," she gave me all the stuff she didn't like.

I've been sitting here gorging myself on Pixie Stiks and Fun Dip all afternoon. I'm going to be bouncing off the walls, guys. ^____^

Ah, nostalgia in powdered candy form... *licklick*

That end-of-year meme thingy.

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
January: The New Year dawned with lots of fluffy snow. I choose to take this as an omen.
February: I'm pretty sure I'm confusing the hell out of Pandora.com right now.
March: Changed both my layouts.
April: (Flocked to prevent Teh Drama.)
May: It's the first of May (and we all know what that means).
June: -_@
July: I ARE DONE.
August: I had an interesting time today with my mom's family (cousin's being shipped to Afghanistan; put in a good word for him with your deity of choice if you've got a spare moment), but blogging about that will have to wait. My 'kick some ass' button is being pressed.
September: Percyplush update: the legs are attached, after some hemming and hawing over what size to make his butt.
October: Normally I wouldn't do the embed thing, but if I have to suffer, so do you.
November: WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
December: Dear co-worker:

So, that was my year. Some Awesome, some Suck, pretty much like every other year.

I'd make New Years' resolutions, but judging by my track record that's a great way to make sure that thing never gets done. -_- ...hmm. Actually, I changed my mind. I resolve to not finish my TF/Mythbusters thing or The Rose Bearer. :D (Reverse psychology works on the basic forces of the universe, right? Right?)

So, as threatened, I stayed up as long as it took last night to do my mom's blanket.* I got about two hours' sleep before I had to get up and go to work, all told. But I knew that was going to happen going in, so off I go like a trooper moogle and arrive at the Dog Place promptly at eight. ...Half an hour later I gave up and went home, very confused. I hadn't seen another soul and the building was locked up tight, so unless they were playing an elaborate prank on me... Maybe I was supposed to come in in the afternoon, I thought. So I opened presents with my parents, took a nap (homg needed that so much), and returned at 2:30 for what I thought would be the afternoon shift.

At 3:00 I was just about to give up again when my boss shows up. He winds up telling me that the Christmas Day dogwalking shift starts at six. Six. You'd think someone would mention this to the new girl. *headdesk* Anyway, he assured me it wasn't my fault, and I got to walk dogs with him, which gives me my holiday pay. So, all's well that ends well. ...I'm never going to hear the end of this when I come in to work tomorrow, am I?

Other than that, my Christmas is going just fine. It's really nice and warm outside, my parents are cooking dinner upstairs, and I have books and shiny things to keep me occupied. ^_^ ...but, uh, definitely going to bed early tonight.

*I was really expecting this to be a pain in the butt, but there's something oddly restful and cozy about crocheting a big fluffy blanket for someone you care about. I sat there in front of the computer and read old RP logs and the time and the yarn just flew. ...Don't think I'll be doing it that often though. *winces and flexes fingers*

...O hay, it's Christmas.

(Yes, I'm still up. I'm not done with Mom's blanket yet. *crochets furiously* If I hurry, I might still get a few hours' sleep before I have to go to work. But I will damn well stay up all night if I have to!)

I don't really have any deep thoughts this year. I'll save the introspection for New Years'. Just... I love you all. Thanks for sticking around and listening to me whine and encouraging my vices. ;) Stay safe and enjoy your Winterthing, whatever that entails.

Hugs, kisses, cookies and porn for all.

Love,
Moogle

Stayed up 'til 2 AM to do it, but my last Xmas presents are shipped out. And then I got up five hours later and kicked some ass at work. So! Day 8: Nap makes me happy. Because nap owns.

Mom and Dad, in unison: And that's good enough for me!

(Srsly, though, you guys, Mom went to a cookie-exchange party yesterday and now we're in cookies up to our ears. I am going to be one roly-poly moogle by the time the holidays are over. ...Anyone want to come over? :D?)

Day 3: OMG BABY TURTLE. Seriously, guys, the stubby little feets and cute little face are adorable, but that little headtilt? Slays me. So hard. *hearts*

...look, you want dignity, you're on the wrong blog. ;P

Speaking of no dignity, this is what I'm getting my grandmother for Christmas. At my mother's insistence, mind, because - is anyone else as creeped out as I am? o_o I feel like I should be wearing a cross and waving garlic. I'm amazed Mom doesn't see it, as big a Buffy fan as she is.

In other news, the 'rents have the house all decorated for Christmas, and the kitchen is absolutely filled with Dad's sugar cookies. Eeeee. ^______^

I just posted my last [info]kinkfest prompt, after banging it out in the space of about an hour and a half. Which I've been doing far too often this round. *headdesk* Even when I was busy with school, I used to have my prompts written out well in advance. This month, writing was like pulling teeth and I usually wound up having to come up with something either the night before or the day of. I really think my quality suffered.

Maybe I need a break. It's not as though I don't have a metric ton of crocheting to do, after all. *zoom zoom yarn becomes blanket, alakazam!*

Thanksgiving was actually very nice. I baked the pumpkin pie (and it turned out amazing, thankyouverymuch!), Mom made gravy from scratch, and Dad did pretty much everything else. He'd wound up getting a twenty-five pound turkey because that's all he could find. It barely even fit in the oven. So, uh... anyone wanna come over for turkey sammiches? XD It's really good turkey, too - usually I could take it or leave it, but Dad did a really good job. I suppose that's a good thing if you're going to have leftovers anyway.

EDIT: Oh god, lol. Dad put up the Peanuts characters today (see this post) and has a spotlight shining on Sally so it casts the shadow of her head right on the front window. I... never realized how much her head looked like the Bat signal before. XDDD This calls for a crossover, you know. "Good grief, we need a hero!" "I've got an idea. Sally, hold still." "What are you doing, you blockhead!?"

.......oh god, my brain.

Well, I didn't burst into tears today.

And I even got my parents a card for their anniversary. :D ...of course, I ran into them on the way to the bookstore, so it's not as if I could play it off like I'd had it for weeks. Dammit. ;P Anyway, I wrote in the card that I'd take them out to breakfast one day, so there you have it. Instant present, no guilt. ;)

Also, I may be insane. But it's for a good cause! :D

Now if you'll excuse me, I think I shall go collapse.
