So apparently this is a thing that is happening.

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I may have mentioned this on Twitter a while back, buuut - Adventuresome Coworker is organizing a bunch of her friends into a Superhero Cosplay Group for Halloween, and - well, I could blame it all on her, but the fact is she blurted out I could go as She-Ra and I exploded with glee. I have nobody but myself to blame. So apparently I have seven months to put together a She-Ra costume. Which sounds like a long time, but I'm thinking I'm going to need every day of it. XD

(She-Ra = kind of my childhood hero. I mean like All Of Five Years Old childhood hero. Long before I was all about Trini. ....It was probably for the best that my 'boyfriend' at the time and I didn't know He-Man and She-Ra were twins.)

For reference, this is what she looks like. I'm thinking an overbust corset for the top part (because God knows me + spandex = BAD IDEA), and the gold bits could probably be done with craft foam and paint, but I have nooooo idea what I'm going to do about the sword. And if I have time I'd love to make a Swiftwind purse. (That's her horse. I used to have a toy of him, though he was pink plastic.)

Also? This She-Ra will be wearing flats, kthx.

(When is She-Ra going to get a reboot, dammit? That would be wicked awesome. Although with my luck Michael Bay would get ahold of her.)

I hope everyone had a good Christmas/perfectly ordinary winter day. I sure did. <3 I made my mom cry

I hope everyone had a good Christmas/perfectly ordinary winter day. I sure did. <3 I made my mom cry twice, once with the card I gave her and once with one of her presents, a notebook in which I'd written down stuff I'd learned from her. ^_^ I did that for Dad too, and he didn't cry, but he did come over and hug me without my having to initiate it. So that was nice.

Also, apple pie. And a bubble bath with the bubble-bar-magic-fairy-wand 'Boots gave me. So. ^_^

And I was spending a lot of quality time crocheting today, so I get a Warm Fuzzy Glow of Accomplishment too! :DDD

So anyway. Merry Winterthing, y'all. <333

Augh, it's December!?

What the heeeeell. Time for Winterthing, I guess.

*puts on Santa hat*

This is my official Winterthing post! If you want a card/note (or whatever I come up with) from a moogle this year, please leave your address here. And if you need my address (remember it changed six months ago) squeak at me and I'll PM/email it to you, whichever you prefer. Comments are screened.

Thanksgiving at the Mooglefamily House

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Making the pumpkin pie is never, ever uneventful at my house, starting with my very first attempt, in which I mixed up the tablespoon with the teaspoon and made Salty Bob's Salty Pumpkin Pie of Saltiness. (I have yet to live this down.) Another year saw the Great Cinnamon Upset, and this year we lost the can opener which led to Dad showing me how to laboriously open a can using one of those bottle opener things with the point on it.

"It's like watching someone churn butter," I said, earning myself the Sarcasm Award for the year. No, really, Dad found a sign at Michaels and said it was meant to be a Christmas present, but he just had to give it to me right then. Accomplishments do not go unrecognized in my family.

But that's usually how it goes, with holidays. We get into epic snark contests, we bitch about the extended family, and we tell old in-jokes until I nearly pee myself laughing. That's what I'm thankful for.

First lines of each month, in honor of New Years'.

Jan: My motto this year is 'Don't look back.'
Feb: Working on WfC icons. And... other things.
Mar: I've been making progress on Five Myths, and my next set of 100-prompt fics should be up in a couple of days.
Apr: So I seem to have developed a sore on the side of my tongue, near the back.
May: We all know what day it is, and how Jazz loves bad puns.
Jun: I hope no one minds if I leave the tail off His Tyrannical Purpleness.
Jul: ...I need a jump-start on my writing engine.
Aug: I got a rejection letter from Virginia Commonwealth University today.
Sep: It's hotter than Primal's ass out here in DC today.
Oct: If you're looking for Christmas present ideas (even for yourself, ahem), the stuff in my Etsy shop has a month to go before it gets delisted.
Nov: So, the rally on Saturday: kind of a letdown.
Dec: So, being a full-time workermoogle now, I am trying to find an apartment.

It's had its ups and downs, but overall, I've had worse years.

It's not Christmas without music.

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I'm having a good Christmas. Even with the breaks to go to work and look after the furry things. (Today, every bowl of food gets a candy cane in it.)

Have some festive music:

Love you guys. Merry Christmas. Take care of yourselves. *hugs all around*

October 1st, 2010

Hay guys!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
If you're looking for Christmas present ideas (even for yourself, ahem), the stuff in my Etsy shop has a month to go before it gets delisted. Prices are negotiable if I've friended you. More stuff is Coming Soon, as they say.

SPEAKING OF WINTERTHING. As I am a crafter, I have to start thinking about these things early, or else everybody gets a skibble done the day before. (See: last year.) SO. If you would like a card or something from me this year, please leave your address in the comments along with any requests you might have. Comments are screened, obv. And don't assume I have your address just because I've sent you something before - I am forever losing the things. Fundamentally unreliable moogle, lol. But you will at least get a card! *determined*

And if you need my address too, squeak at me via your preferred method and I shall send it to you. <3

Thank you for my present! It's not just a game - it's the excuse I needed to finally break down and get a PSP. :D

I couldn't think of anything to draw for you, but *hearts!*

Now that I have the traditional New Year's alcoholic beverage.

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
My motto this year is 'Don't look back.'

Not going back through my calendar to do that first-line-of-each-month meme. Not going to look back at my list of resolutions, 'cause I'm pretty sure I haven't filled a one of 'em.

No self-recrimination, it's counterproductive. I have a Mac and the good software, I have my own two hands and most of my health left, and I'm not looking back. Let the past stew in its own juices, I've got too much to do.

*...breathes* *hoping sheer bloody-mindedness will make this phase last*

Taking a break from playing with my toys.

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
So, I really do like Christmas. I just don't like the month leaning up to it.

Okay, Christmas is over, you really don't want to read through another 'this is what Christmas means to me blah blah blah.' )

The important thing, really, is that I love you guys. I hope that whatever you celebrate, you had a good one. *wraps up everybody in a big giant hug*

(Also, if you get a chance to see the musical adaptation of Young Frankenstein, go for it. The 'rents and I went to see it Christmas night and it's made of quite a lot of awesome.)

MAC

I HAS A MAC

MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAC

I'm quite excited about this. Also, the smell of it when you first open the box should be bottled. I don't wear perfume, but I'd wear that every day. (And have a line of nerds following me around, heh.)

Stats: 21.5-inch iMac, 4GB RAM and 1TB hard drive, with Adobe CS Design Premium, MS Office, and Manga Studio. When Dragon Age: Origins comes out for Mac, I might get that too, but this is going to be primarily a working rig.

Sorry, PC of Creakyness, but your days are numbered. Muahahahaha. >D

Off to set it up! *scampers*

December 5th, 2009

I'm so sick of coughing.

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Well, the snow's finally stopped. *peers out of window* After listening to the weather people, I was expecting a few flakes mixed in with all the rain - certainly nothing that would stick. Final verdict? Six inches of fluffy white stuff, easy. (That despairing cry you hear is the county's public school students going 'It couldn't have held off until tomorrow?'.)

It was really nice watching it come down this morning, not that I had a lot of time to watch with work and all. Big fat fluffy snowflakes, perfect for playing in. It's basically what you think of when you imagine a white Christmas. *slightly less Grinchy*

So! In that spirit, have one of those all-I-want-for-Xmas meme things that have been making the rounds. A bit late, but as you will see, it doesn't matter all that much.

The Rules, for those who have been living under a rock the past couple of weeks. )

My list:
1. A low-stress, preferably not-People-heavy (but I repeat myself) job that will pay me enough to live on. If it's a second job that I can fit in around my current gig, that's cool, but for preference I'd like to have a few afternoons/evenings free to write and chat.
2. A little apartment of my own. If it's warm, clean and all the appliances work, I'll be happy, even if it's only one room in a basement somewhere. (Actually, a basement would be perfect, 'cause that way I could stomp around doing DDR without bothering anyone below me.)
3. A gold chocobo. Less maintenance required than an airship, and I could ride him all around the world visiting everybody! ...Plus, y'know, choco. ^____^
4. A Keyblade. I got some darkness to fight off, yo.
5. A modern Transformers movie with a decent story. I hate to admit it, but yeah, Bay can't do a decent narrative to save his soul. And his portrayal of women makes Frank Miller look progressive.
6. Some brain rewiring, so I can a) get shed of this freaking depression, and b) quit procrastinating so damn much.
7. A little sense of self-worth, pursuant to the above.
8. A stronger heart, likewise.
9. Magic powers and/or Materia. I'm not picky what, although a Haste/Stop/Slow would be useful.
10. Some muscle, which is about as likely as the above.

...Why yes, that was a little passive-aggressive of me. x_x

Well, another Black Friday, and nobody's been trampled to death by crazed shoppers as far as I've heard. Of course, the day's not over yet. (...I've really turned into a misanthrope the last month or so, and it seems like the start of the holiday season has really exacerbated it. I'm kinda worried about this.)

Of course, I really can't complain. I'm no more immune to a few bucks off Stuff I Don't Really Need than the next person, I just indulge my inner rabid consumer on the Internet. Although it must be said that Amazon does not play fair in this regard: I went on the site to get some CDs for my mom, and it waved 358/2 Days with eight bucks off at me. With fifteen minutes left to snag it. Dear readers, there are many temptations I can resist, but that was just dirty tactics.

*sigh* Ah well. Ten days 'til pretty boys in black cloaks on my DS, so I guess I can deal.

November 6th, 2009

Aaaagh. *headdesk*

I shorted out the stove today. Spilled a little instant-ramen broth on the controls, and zap! That was all she wrote. Lucky thing I figured out how to unplug the whole shebang, or we'd have a smoking crater for a house right now, and then who'd feed the fish? Still, we are left stove-less until Dad fixes things.

I think the next level of fail is to set something on fire. This is why I really should stay out of the kitchen. -_-

On the subject of Winterthing presents (NOOOOOOOOOOooooo....), I think I'll be giving out skibbles or something this year. I about killed myself crocheting something for everyone last year, and I'm pretty sure everyone's sick of yarnthings anyway. ;P I'd do baked goods, but, well, see above re: kitchen fail.

Trick or treat? (Om nom nom.)

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
It's the Halloween Meme, ganked from (lj)artoni! Because I won't be going trick-or-treating for realz. *sad*

01 ► Create a graphic (200 x 200 max size) to represent your personal "candy". It should have your username on it, but otherwise can feature whatever you want. Make it something special since it's self-representative.

02 ► Make a post with the subject "trick or treat?". Put your "candy" somewhere in it, and be sure to repost these instructions.

03 ► Then, go around other people's LJs and reply to them with either "trick" or "treat". If you reply with "trick", they will give you an LJ dare that you have to perform before taking their candy. If you're too wimpy for that, simply say "treat" and take their candy.

04 ► List all your collected candies in your original "trick or treat?" post to show off your collection, being sure not to direct-link! Mine is on tinypic, so feel free.

Here's my candy:

And the candy I've gotten so far:

Carved a pumpkin, all by myself. Why a fish? Well, it's less obvious than a face.

Also, I listened to the TF:TM soundtrack at work. With the volume up. Just in case there was any lingering doubt among my coworkers that I am the dweebiest dweeb that ever dweebed.

October 5th, 2009

ZOMG.

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
So I was out walking today and saw that some of the neighbors have put up their Halloween decorations. Specifically, somebody has on their lawn a giant, animatronic Blackarachnia. I am seriously not kidding. O_O Legs! And hourglass! And the head turned to look at me, I swear. ...Actually, judging from the bloatedness, it kind of looked like a pregnant Blackarachnia, which is truly too terrifying to even contemplate.

I'll see if I can get a picture sometime this week.

I wonder if dressing up as Silverbolt for Halloween is an entirely silly idea.

My family and I don't do Valentine's Day (it's the day my grandpa died, among other reasons), but Mom's a second-grade teacher, and what's she going to do, refuse to accept the cards and candy her adoring little sprogs or their parents shower her with? So Mom came home last night with like three gift bags full of processed sugar, and as she is a firm believer of "only eat it if it's worth the calories," she gave me all the stuff she didn't like.

I've been sitting here gorging myself on Pixie Stiks and Fun Dip all afternoon. I'm going to be bouncing off the walls, guys. ^____^

Ah, nostalgia in powdered candy form... *licklick*

That end-of-year meme thingy.

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
January: The New Year dawned with lots of fluffy snow. I choose to take this as an omen.
February: I'm pretty sure I'm confusing the hell out of Pandora.com right now.
March: Changed both my layouts.
April: (Flocked to prevent Teh Drama.)
May: It's the first of May (and we all know what that means).
June: -_@
July: I ARE DONE.
August: I had an interesting time today with my mom's family (cousin's being shipped to Afghanistan; put in a good word for him with your deity of choice if you've got a spare moment), but blogging about that will have to wait. My 'kick some ass' button is being pressed.
September: Percyplush update: the legs are attached, after some hemming and hawing over what size to make his butt.
October: Normally I wouldn't do the embed thing, but if I have to suffer, so do you.
November: WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
December: Dear co-worker:

So, that was my year. Some Awesome, some Suck, pretty much like every other year.

I'd make New Years' resolutions, but judging by my track record that's a great way to make sure that thing never gets done. -_- ...hmm. Actually, I changed my mind. I resolve to not finish my TF/Mythbusters thing or The Rose Bearer. :D (Reverse psychology works on the basic forces of the universe, right? Right?)
