Oh! The heat! *thud.*

It is so hot.

So. Hot.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to melt by tomorrow. Or spontaneously combust, one of the two.

Quick, tell me how your favorite characters stay cool in summer. In ficlet or blurb form, either way. Do it soon! Before I faint.

Look what was in my front yard when I came home today! :DDDD

I'm so excited, you guys. Today the sun was out and the temperature was mild and now there's flowers! Spring is coming! *bounces and squees!*

Guess who's got two thumbs and the day off today?

THIS CHICK RIGHT HERE. XD

So yeah, this is March, coming in like a lion. A really cold, snowy lion. We've got about four or five inches on the ground so far and it doesn't look like it's going to stop anytime soon. I got up early so I could be sure to make it to work on time, but the snowplows are apparently doing their thing Elsewhere so I had to call and say I'd be late. And the boss said, 'eh, just stay home.' Which, y'know, don't bother me none. The dogs and their poo will still be there tomorrow. ;P

...yeah, I'm going back to bed. *flop*

Marshmallow world

I know it's the height of boringness to natter on about the weather, but... well, this is me. ;P So, it's been in the teens-and-twenties for about a week now (after lots of waffling over whether it wanted to be actual winter or not), and the pond's been frozen over. Actually, the pond looks like an ice rink. XD Even the waterfall froze over, you guys - Dad had to turn it off to keep it from backing up and flooding the yard, and now we've got these floaty things in the water to keep an airhole in the ice so the fish don't suffocate. But anyway, today's the day it finally snowed. Not spectacularly, but enough to frost everyone's lawns and such. It was being all polite and demure at first when I went out to walk the dogs at work, but by the time I went home it was coming down enough to cut down on visibility.

I do not envy all the people coming out for the inauguration, yo. *shivers*

In other news, my mock corset is done! Pictures when I figure out something that would look okay with it. Next project, the Magnusplushies. *rolls up sleeves*

I was Out Doin' Stuff today and I saw a car whose license plate said "VLDMRT". I lol'd. ^_^

Also, there's ice on the koi pond. The waterfall has little icicle stalactites surrounding it. It made me feel all Christmassy to see that. ...From inside my nice warm house, of course. ;P

winter storm warning

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
This must be the "in like a lion" thing I've heard about - a March snowstorm in Ohio, promising over a foot of accumulation in places. Even if I wasn't firmly in "so over this winter shit" mode since early February, I'd be worried - there's no big friendly fat flakes like you see on television, only a near-solid wall of the kind of mean little flakes that sting your skin like a thousand needles. I've been sitting by the window watching it for about three hours now and it hasn't stopped. The cars in the parking lot look like they've been abandoned by the side of the road; even moving cars aren't enough to break the illusion of loneliness and abandonment; the earth and sky are the same dull white, trying to swallow everything between them.

I don't want to drive home through all that, but I might as well. I'm not going to get anything done in the mood I'm in.

Good day sunshine...

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Oh my god you guys, the sun came out today for the first time in twenty years. I even drove home from school with my window down, it felt amazing. I feel like I just got fresh batteries. ^______^

I may have a touch of Seasonal Affective Disorder after all, if a few hours of sunlight and non-freezing weather can make me feel like this. Maybe I should reconsider moving to Florida or California.

Of course, tomorrow we're supposed to get a metric buttload each of snow and rain. Oh, Ohio.

My moroseness isn't gone. It's just ebbing a little.

It's snowing again.

It's been snowing off and on since, oh, Tuesday night. Everything's got that pristine cake-frosting look right now, where you forget how messy snow can be when you actually have to slog through it or when it turns to sludge after enough people drive over it. I'd feel guilty about not going out and playing in it - hell, my next move will be to New Mexico for all I know (please God no - I'm sure it's lovely but I just cannot handle scorpions) - but today I made a snow bunny. That's plenty to let the winter pass without regrets.

Right now my dream job is to work quality assurance at a sex toy factory.

And now that I've blown your minds, a meme. )
