I knew that 'false spring' thing was going to yank me back so fast I'd get whiplash.

It's sleeting. Mrrgh. -_- Have some porn - this is bribery for [info]caia_comica.

Argh, my legs hurt now. *sob*

You guys. You guys. It was seriously sixty degrees and sunny out today. Actual sunshine, not just the winter kind that you can see but not feel. I was out in just my scrubs and I could feel heat on my face. I had to roll my car window down while I was driving because it was too warm in there.

I... I think I have spring fever, a little bit. *wiggles*

Now watch as we get a giant blizzard next week or so.

January 31st, 2011

I had to go back and look at Twitter to see what I've been up to.

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
We had about six inches of snow on Thursday - it was a bona-fide thundersnow, reportedly - but as that was my day off anyway, it didn't really affect me much. I was flopped out all day either way. ;)

I'm almost done with a crocheted sweater, but I've run out of yarn, dammit. Good thing it's no-dye-lot.

I also got crafty and made a notebook (well, a notebook cover, really) for Mom's birthday, and some book-label charms for use as jewelry. Pictures will be up as soon as I can take a decent picture of the darn things.

Also, today I fell down the stairs and bruised my - I'm sorry - left cheek.

That is all. Carry on.

Yep. It's another Snowpocalypse. We've topped two feet so far and it's not supposed to stop for another nine and a half hours or so. I guess this is the Blizzard of '10. XD

We've got plenty of provisions (and birthday cake, for Mom), and the power hasn't got out yet. SO, I think we'll be okay. As long as we, uh, stay inside.

Still alive.

Well, the Blizzard of '09 (that's what they called it on the news - mock them, not me) is over. Final tally is roughly a foot and a half, judging just by how much I had to dig off my car. I never did hear any thunder, though I was asleep for half the afternoon.

Everything should be more or less back to normal by tomorrow or Tuesday. And I hope President Obama is satisfied now, the winter snob. ;P

They're calling for up to two feet of snow and a thundersnow tomorrow afternoon.

...I'll repeat that, for those of you just coming in.

A thunder. Snow.

I'm so sick of coughing.

Well, the snow's finally stopped. *peers out of window* After listening to the weather people, I was expecting a few flakes mixed in with all the rain - certainly nothing that would stick. Final verdict? Six inches of fluffy white stuff, easy. (That despairing cry you hear is the county's public school students going 'It couldn't have held off until tomorrow?'.)

It was really nice watching it come down this morning, not that I had a lot of time to watch with work and all. Big fat fluffy snowflakes, perfect for playing in. It's basically what you think of when you imagine a white Christmas. *slightly less Grinchy*

So! In that spirit, have one of those all-I-want-for-Xmas meme things that have been making the rounds. A bit late, but as you will see, it doesn't matter all that much.

The Rules, for those who have been living under a rock the past couple of weeks. )

My list:
1. A low-stress, preferably not-People-heavy (but I repeat myself) job that will pay me enough to live on. If it's a second job that I can fit in around my current gig, that's cool, but for preference I'd like to have a few afternoons/evenings free to write and chat.
2. A little apartment of my own. If it's warm, clean and all the appliances work, I'll be happy, even if it's only one room in a basement somewhere. (Actually, a basement would be perfect, 'cause that way I could stomp around doing DDR without bothering anyone below me.)
3. A gold chocobo. Less maintenance required than an airship, and I could ride him all around the world visiting everybody! ...Plus, y'know, choco. ^____^
4. A Keyblade. I got some darkness to fight off, yo.
5. A modern Transformers movie with a decent story. I hate to admit it, but yeah, Bay can't do a decent narrative to save his soul. And his portrayal of women makes Frank Miller look progressive.
6. Some brain rewiring, so I can a) get shed of this freaking depression, and b) quit procrastinating so damn much.
7. A little sense of self-worth, pursuant to the above.
8. A stronger heart, likewise.
9. Magic powers and/or Materia. I'm not picky what, although a Haste/Stop/Slow would be useful.
10. Some muscle, which is about as likely as the above.

...Why yes, that was a little passive-aggressive of me. x_x

Oh! The heat! *thud.*

It is so hot.

So. Hot.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to melt by tomorrow. Or spontaneously combust, one of the two.

Quick, tell me how your favorite characters stay cool in summer. In ficlet or blurb form, either way. Do it soon! Before I faint.

Look what was in my front yard when I came home today! :DDDD

I'm so excited, you guys. Today the sun was out and the temperature was mild and now there's flowers! Spring is coming! *bounces and squees!*

Guess who's got two thumbs and the day off today?

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

So yeah, this is March, coming in like a lion. A really cold, snowy lion. We've got about four or five inches on the ground so far and it doesn't look like it's going to stop anytime soon. I got up early so I could be sure to make it to work on time, but the snowplows are apparently doing their thing Elsewhere so I had to call and say I'd be late. And the boss said, 'eh, just stay home.' Which, y'know, don't bother me none. The dogs and their poo will still be there tomorrow. ;P

...yeah, I'm going back to bed. *flop*

Marshmallow world

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I know it's the height of boringness to natter on about the weather, but... well, this is me. ;P So, it's been in the teens-and-twenties for about a week now (after lots of waffling over whether it wanted to be actual winter or not), and the pond's been frozen over. Actually, the pond looks like an ice rink. XD Even the waterfall froze over, you guys - Dad had to turn it off to keep it from backing up and flooding the yard, and now we've got these floaty things in the water to keep an airhole in the ice so the fish don't suffocate. But anyway, today's the day it finally snowed. Not spectacularly, but enough to frost everyone's lawns and such. It was being all polite and demure at first when I went out to walk the dogs at work, but by the time I went home it was coming down enough to cut down on visibility.

I do not envy all the people coming out for the inauguration, yo. *shivers*

In other news, my mock corset is done! Pictures when I figure out something that would look okay with it. Next project, the Magnusplushies. *rolls up sleeves*

I was Out Doin' Stuff today and I saw a car whose license plate said "VLDMRT". I lol'd. ^_^

Also, there's ice on the koi pond. The waterfall has little icicle stalactites surrounding it. It made me feel all Christmassy to see that. ...From inside my nice warm house, of course. ;P

winter storm warning

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
This must be the "in like a lion" thing I've heard about - a March snowstorm in Ohio, promising over a foot of accumulation in places. Even if I wasn't firmly in "so over this winter shit" mode since early February, I'd be worried - there's no big friendly fat flakes like you see on television, only a near-solid wall of the kind of mean little flakes that sting your skin like a thousand needles. I've been sitting by the window watching it for about three hours now and it hasn't stopped. The cars in the parking lot look like they've been abandoned by the side of the road; even moving cars aren't enough to break the illusion of loneliness and abandonment; the earth and sky are the same dull white, trying to swallow everything between them.

I don't want to drive home through all that, but I might as well. I'm not going to get anything done in the mood I'm in.

Good day sunshine...

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Oh my god you guys, the sun came out today for the first time in twenty years. I even drove home from school with my window down, it felt amazing. I feel like I just got fresh batteries. ^______^

I may have a touch of Seasonal Affective Disorder after all, if a few hours of sunlight and non-freezing weather can make me feel like this. Maybe I should reconsider moving to Florida or California.

Of course, tomorrow we're supposed to get a metric buttload each of snow and rain. Oh, Ohio.

My moroseness isn't gone. It's just ebbing a little.

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
It's snowing again.

It's been snowing off and on since, oh, Tuesday night. Everything's got that pristine cake-frosting look right now, where you forget how messy snow can be when you actually have to slog through it or when it turns to sludge after enough people drive over it. I'd feel guilty about not going out and playing in it - hell, my next move will be to New Mexico for all I know (please God no - I'm sure it's lovely but I just cannot handle scorpions) - but today I made a snow bunny. That's plenty to let the winter pass without regrets.

Right now my dream job is to work quality assurance at a sex toy factory.

And now that I've blown your minds, a meme. )
